These printers are designed for smaller volume applications where bench space is at a premium. Our standard model is the ZD621-300T, which offers excellent print quality at a reasonable price.
These larger printers are designed for mission critical operations where you need to print thousands of labels a day. We can help you choose the appropriate one for your application. Aside from a more industrial frame, these printers also have larger label and ribbon rolls requiring less change out and down time.
These printers are Direct Thermal Only in nature. Thus the labels are designed for short life applications 3-6 months. They are not designed for long term storage or applications where solvents or chemicals might be involved.
Thermal Transfer Printing uses the heat of the print-head to transfer the image from a carbon based ribbon onto the face-sheet This makes for a longer life label. That if paired with the correct Label and Ribbon can create a super bond for demanding applications.
Direct Thermal is a process whereby the Print-head heats up the face-sheet of a direct thermal Label (Typically paper-based) and those activated molecules then color the paper. Unfortunately, these same molecules can also be affected by UV Lights, Chemicals/Solvents, and other sources of heat. For this reason, these labels are reserved for short-life, non-demanding applications such as meat-deli scale labels and shipping labels.
Did you Know that Thermal Transfer printers can run both Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer Stock. HOWEVER, if you purchase a Direct Thermal Only Printer you will not have a housing in it for the ribbon, and so it will only be able to print Direct Thermal stock.
Thermal Transfer printing utilizes heat to transfer the image onto the label. Different ribbon types require different heat settings. For example a soft wax ribbon would require very little heat to transfer the image, while a hard superior resin would require a lot of heat to complete the transfer. So if you have a barely visible image, you either need to increase the heat, or verify that your ribbon is compatible with your label type.
We can connect these printers to a wide variety of LIMs Programs depending on needs. From straight ZPL printing, to utilizing Zebra Designer Windows Drivers, or Utilizing the built-in XML, we have you covered. We can also sell you bar code printing software if you need or want to design a lot of different labels.
